Our story

The Alliance Française was established in Paris in 1883 by eminent figures of the arts, the sciences, and politics to ensure the influence of the French language and culture around the world.

The Alliance Française in Maseru was created in 1981 and is the language and cultural centre of Lesotho. It cooperates with the national University of Lesotho, the Ministries of Education, Culture, several local artists and Cultural centres.

Our teachers are French, Francophone and Basotho. We run courses for children from 6 years up to adults! We also promote both local and international artists through concerts, workshops, exhibitions and many more events…

Exhibition “The upright men”

On Monday the 20th at 16h00 join us at Alliance Francaise for a unique artistic and commemorative project.

“Upright Men” is part of a long reflection by Bruce Clarke. This project stems from the desire to produce work-related memorial art forms to be presented during the commemorative ceremonies of the Tutsi genocide committed in Rwanda in 1994.
